This project is a collaboration between Yi mushroom harvesters in a community in Yunnan Province, China and an American doctoral student. Mushroom names and local ethnoecological knowledge were recorded by Madeline Brown during her doctoral fieldwork in this community throughout the 2014 and 2015 rainy seasons (roughly June - late November). Audio recordings were made by Xiaomei.

This project would not have been possible without the steadfast assistance and patience from local collaborators. In particular, thanks go to Lu Shushu, Lu Ayi and their daughters who unwaveringly supported this research in their community.

Thanks also to Dr. Samantha Karunarathna and Li Huili for help with matching Yi folk species to possible scientific names. Finally, thanks to Robin Luo for his assistance with Chinese translation.
